#EinfachDabei – hybrid live communication at Bosch Thermotechnik
ISH, the leading international trade fair for water, heating and air conditioning, brings the plumbing, heating and air-conditioning industry together every two years. This year, the fair is digital, without its familiar activity on site. How can companies involve clients, partners and prospective customers in new products and innovations?
Together with BOSCH Thermotechnik, we launched and supported an eleven-week project: the BoschDirekt online event series. Trade audiences experienced exclusive live and on-demand formats, product news and direct exchanges with Bosch experts.
Thinking hybrid: a focus on interaction and participation
Rather than a succession of presentations, BoschDirekt created a shared atmosphere between experts and participants. Specialist conversations are a highlight of any trade fair: people make contacts, discuss new products and offer feedback that generates ideas. BOSCH wanted to create this dialogue digitally too. Alongside live talks, members of a Facebook group could take part in panel discussions. Interactive events and a chat function made room for valuable background conversations. A contact form allowed participants to arrange exclusive 1:1 discussions with local Bosch specialists.
Successful production with high-quality equipment
A clear concept and high-quality technology formed the basis of the production. A temporary streaming studio on the Bosch Campus in Wernau provided the setting. Two conference rooms housed approximately 38 m² of high-resolution LED displays, five cameras, LED lighting, audio technology, video playback (Watchout + v4) and computers for remote video connections. The studio hosted live events and the pre-production of product videos and features for Bosch Thermotechnik’s customers. Guests supporting the Bosch experts included science writer Ranga Yogeshwar and climate researcher Prof. Dr. Konstantinos Stergiaropoulos.
One studio, many possibilities
Several formats within the virtual series presented topics including climate protection, funding and digitalisation. A podcast, two press conferences and the 2021 sales kickoff, including training videos, complemented seven live events. The team also produced 20 product and topic videos. BoschDirekt remains available beyond the event series and is regularly expanded with new content, turning the series into a year-round virtual platform for the company and its customers.
With overall responsibility, we supported the client throughout the production series. Alongside technical delivery, our work covered staging, content production for LED playback, key visuals and charts, editorial work and event scripts, on-site production control, VIP bookings and make-up.
