When hardware, software, exhibits and buildings are married together
After the special challenges of the construction site have been mastered, it's just a matter of setting everything up and going! Really? Admittedly, the completion of construction work is always a long-awaited milestone. Nevertheless, the implementation of media technology, content and software is of great importance. Anyone who is responsible for large projects knows that most problems can arise in the last few metres. Because only then do all the components fit together, even if this has been tested x times beforehand.
And so it was here too. Mapping the projectors in "Zooom 2" is in itself a mechanically demanding task. But when the wrong projection colour is applied (#truestory), it gets tricky. The same applies to programming the room and device controls. It is clear that everything is precisely specified. But what if two weeks before the final implementation, parts of the programming no longer get along. The reason: an unexpected software update for which not even the manufacturer's support has a hot fix ready.
While the project office fears for the completion date, the project manager can calm everyone down: Two unpleasant problems? Yes. But that has happened many times before. Now it's a matter of solving the tasks with a lot of engineering expertise and experience from hundreds of projects. The right colour ensures perfect projection. The subsequent atmosphere of the room is already noticeable during testing. A separate workaround is programmed for the entire system so that it is completed in time, in budget and in quality. And four weeks after commissioning, the workaround is replaced by the patch that has been available in the meantime.
So if you think you can sit back and relax on the home straight, you're wrong! But despite all the hurdles: The successful completion of all implementations and a first impression of the finished experience are always a highlight.
