FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) are a compilation of frequently asked questions and the corresponding answers on the subject of media and event technology as well as LED.

General

The "ICT" in ICT AG means "Innovative Communications Technologies", because that's what we're all about.

Media technology is an umbrella term for information media technologies. It is also referred to as audiovisual media (AV technology). This includes audio technology, video technology and lighting technology in conjunction with digital data processing of the corresponding signals ("signal management").

Event technology, or VA technology for short, deals with the planning and practical implementation of events such as concerts, celebrations or trade fairs.

Here, brands, products or services are staged within a space. These can be trade fair stands, museums, showrooms, retail stores or pop-up architectures. In addition to the actual exhibit, image and video material is integrated, for example, that informs and at the same time evokes moods.

The term refers to a potential customer's "journey" through various contact points with a product, brand, or company. The philosophy behind this is to look at everything through the customer's lens: The web presence, the store, the product usage and the underlying concept.

Live communication refers to the possibility of communicating messages directly and without detours to the desired target group. The sender and recipient of the message are in the same place. Examples are trade fairs, events or showrooms.

LED

The abbreviation stands for "light emitting diode", i.e. a semiconductor that does not calculate but lights up. Compared to the light bulb, the LED has the advantage of significantly lower energy consumption with a size of barely one millimeter in diameter.

This is the distance from one LED pixel to the next.1.5 mm Pixel Pitch, for example, means that the distance from the center of one LED to the next is 1.5 mm. The smaller the pixel pitch, the finer the image produced. At the same time, this often ensures a higher purchase price.

An LED wall consists of thousands or even millions of individual LEDs installed in so-called cabinets. You can look at a cabinet like a tile: Rectangular with an edge length of usually 500 x 500 mm. The cabinets are mounted on a metal frame, a so-called substructure - on a wall or free-standing.

Unlike the LED wall made of individual cabinets, the LED display is a stand-alone unit, better known as a television or computer monitor.

A special design in LED technology. The cabinet and the LED itself are curved or bendable. This allows the construction of seamless LED in the shape of a curve.

This is an LED with significantly less energy consumption. This means that it does not become hot on the surface. The cold LED is mainly used in the context of sustainability and efficiency.

The term is borrowed from the Greek and stands for movement. In the context of media technology, we refer to moving LED walls, exhibits and stages as kinetics. A great deal of construction and mechanical expertise is required to implement such installations.

High-brightness LEDs belong to a new generation of LEDs that are bright enough for lighting applications, such as room and architectural lighting or display backlighting. This feature is useful, for example, in the context of vehicle simulation, where different lighting situations are realistically recreated.

When digital content is transmitted to an LED installation, there is always a certain amount of latency. This refers to the time that elapses between the sending of a signal and the display of the respective content. The reason for this delay is the various processing stages that require the data to be stored for a short time. The latency is always specified in time units such as seconds or milliseconds.

A technology used to reduce the so-called "smearing". Smearing occurs when objects move very quickly on digital display media such as LEDs, LCDs and projections. It manifests itself in an afterglow, which is also referred to as motion blur. Smearing reduction allows objects to be displayed sharply and clearly. In this context, "Advanced" means that the intensity of Smearing Reduction can be adjusted individually and dynamically.
