University of Bern

Latest media technology on historical site

Since January 2002, students and visitors of the University of Bern can inform themselves in the entrance hall of the main building about faculties and lectures on two plasma displays.

The presentation and information system consists of two Fujitsu PDS-4213 plasma displays integrated in an upright position in a wall frieze and protected with laminated glass. The plasmas are controlled by two computer systems running with the ict software module TouchVision INFOMEDIA.

In scroll mode, interested visitors are informed about current lectures and different faculties. TouchVision INFOMEDIA realizes the feeding of contents to be presented. The list of lectures updates itself automatically by a program interface. Besides, the university administration is able to display ad hoc news or other current information at any time.

SwissConcept, the Swiss partner of ict AG, designed and realized this project. Due to the good functionality of the system further University buildings are to be equipped with it.
